Contractor was a student who'd been a student for a year, went on to audition at an open call for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadain Canada] and was selected for the role. Her performance received rave reviews. her performances during the 92 performances that the play was voted"the best show of 2002" by Canadian critics in 2002. She was invited to join Stratford's conservatory, a program which allows just four men and eight females can attend a 20 weeks crash program in classical theatre. Contractor's place in the following stage season was securing and she was offered the part as Hermia.
